Zoning board continues sports dome variance hearing for Windham Woods
Zoning Board of Adjustment · Meeting of May 12, 2026
NH WINDHAM — Windham board continues hearing on Windham Woods sports dome variance. The Zoning Board of Adjustment postponed a decision on a Benchmark LLC proposal to construct an 80 to 100-foot sports dome at 41 Range Road for Windham Woods School, scheduling a site walk for June 15 and a continuation hearing for July 1. The application requests 14 variances, including relief for building height, where the maximum permitted is 35 feet, and increased impervious lot coverage to 49.9 percent where 30 percent is maximum.
Public testimony was divided; supporters highlighted the school's need for athletic facilities for students with mild to moderate disabilities, while opponents raised concerns about traffic impacts on Route 111, parking capacity, and potential effects on Canobie Lake water quality. The board also approved withdrawal of a separate residential variance application.
