Select Board approves Senior Center ramp, grants exemption
Select Board · Meeting of July 27, 2026
NH WINDHAM — Windham Select Board backs ramp project, exemption against assessor. The board voted unanimously to authorize a $20,000 ADA ramp replacement at the Senior Center and granted a charitable property tax exemption to the Canobie Lake Protection Association, overriding assessor Scott Marsh's recommendation for denial. Chair Ross McLeod supported the exemption, citing conservation as a public benefit.
Extended comment addressed Salem's water withdrawals from Canobie Lake, exceeding 5 million gallons daily against a 1996 safe yield limit of 2 million gallons. The board agreed by consensus to encourage state representatives to attend the Canobie Lake Protective Association's August 23 meeting and to request Town Counsel review of the town's legal rights regarding the lake.
