Energy committee targets solar for municipal buildings, high school

NH WINDHAM — Windham energy committee explores municipal and community solar installations. The Local Energy Committee approved support for the Nesmith Library's September 30 energy efficiency workshop in a 7-0 vote and directed members to investigate solar options for the Fire, Police, and High School facilities. John Duros, representative from Priority Power Inc., presented preliminary cost and savings estimates for rooftop and carport solar systems at municipal buildings.
The committee reviewed community solar models from Jaffrey (1.3 megawatts on a former landfill) and Derry (2.25 megawatts on a capped landfill) and concluded Windham's 2-acre landfill is too small for a similar project, prompting a review of larger town-owned parcels.
